CONCEPTUAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1964–1989
Pushing the boundaries of photography is at CITY's core, and we can't wait for tonight's opening of Conceptual Photography, 1964–1989 at New York's Zwirner & Wirth gallery. Featuring works by Lucas Samaras, Charles Ray (Plank Piece I, II, above), Andy Warhol, and Sol LeWitt, the exhibit focuses on the photograph as a creative tool in the making of performance and personal study. Highlighted works include photographic documentation of a Nam June Paik performance and Bruce Nauman's Studies for Holograms (a–e), all proving—as they should—that with exciting photography, there's much more than meets the eye.
