Nostalgic for the backyard pool parties of your childhood?

W Hotels has partnered with Pink Elephant to offer you a summer of 'Wuv' with the W Backyard, an exclusive Hamptons poolside retreat. This adult hideaway is a VIP- and invitation-only retreat, but if you snag yourself a customized VIKey, you'll soon be basking in a modern poolside playland. The cabanas are stocked with day beds, DVD and iPod players, a munchie box, and wireless internet access; the gaming cabanas offer up classics like foosball and Twister. From the adult sandbox to the pool full of squirt guns and floating iPods, it's no wonder there's a W Suite available for over-night stays. Now through Labor Day. Go to www.starwoodhotels.com

Moss Goes West.

Savvy shoppers from the West Coast have long made the pilgrimage to Moss—New York City's design mecca—for their aesthetic indulgences. Hearing the call, co-owners Murray Moss and Franklin Getchell are set to open Moss Los Angeles this Friday, August 3, on Melrose Avenue. The 3,500-square-foot space will launch with 'Glitter & Smoke,' a Swarovski 'Crystal Palace' installation featuring 18 chandeliers illuminating a 'fire-sculpted' Steinway Baby Grand piano. Other highlights include limited-edition furnishings by Studio Job, and Dieter Rams' legendary 606 Universal Shelving System—finally making its Los Angeles premiere. 8444 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles. coverWhat's your favorite restaurant in your home city? Not the fanciest or the most expensive or the hardest to get a reservation at, but simply your favorite? What's the spot where you're guaranteed a great meal on every visit? That's the question CITY asked in compiling our list of 101 favorite restaurants across the country, as featured in our new Summer Food & Entertaining Issue, on newsstands this week. From Boston to Boulder, New York to New Orleans, we hit 55 different American cities and just about every cuisine on the menu. Check out the full list in the new issue or online and tell us about your favorite restaurants at www.city-magazine.com/restaurants

The new issue also features an in-depth look at what may be one of the most serious threats to our food chain: the decline of our honeybee population. As scientists race all summer to discover the culprit for this phenomenon, CITY asks if one of the alternatives — the outsourcing of America's farms and agriculture — is an option we really want to choose. We also turn to one of the country's top sommeliers to find out how to avoid buying counterfeit wine, and we ask a celebrated chef to give us a guide to navigating your local green market. And for all you baseball fans bemoaning Barry Bonds' imminent breaking of Hank Aaron's home run record, sportswriter Jeff Pearlman takes a seat in the stands and puts America's pastime into perspective.
