Vol. 3, Issue 36

A Touch Of Class: Earlier today Apple refreshed its entire line of iPods, introducing a PRODUCT (RED) Shuffle; a redesigned, smaller, video-playing iPod Nano (above left); and a beefed up iPod Classic (above middle) with up to 160GB of storage—that's around 40,000 tunes, perfect for traffic on the 405. All three are available this weekend. The cream of the bunch, however, is the new iPod Touch (above right). Essentially an iPhone minus the phone, the touch-screen iPod packs music, video, photos, and the Safari web browser into a svelt (8mm thin) wi-fi-enabled device. Users will also be able to browse and buy from the iTunes Music Store and score free wi-fi at participating Starbucks coffee shops. Get your fingers on one near the end of the month. Top Ten: Celebrating his flagship restaurant's 10th birthday, CITY in-house chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten enlisted Danish designer Thomas Juul-Hansen to refresh the dining room of the just fully-restored Jean-Georges in the Trump International Hotel & Tower. Now back in business, New Yorkers and visitors alike should pounce now for a reservation. Go to www.jean-georges.com

CITY's New Fall Fashion Issue

How much would you pay for a platinum human skull studded with 8,601 diamonds? How's a cool $100 million sound? That's what an investment group just spent on Damien Hirst's For the Love of God, his ultra-luxe skull, which appears on the cover of special editions of CITY's new fall fashion issue. Inside a special 'Art Meets Fashion' section in the issue, famed photographer Sante D'Orazio pays Hirst a visit and ruminates on the artist's most recent jaw-dropping work. Elsewhere, Zac Posen talks with former Interview editor Bob Colacello about his new book, Bob Colacello: Out; Andy Spade visits artist Jules de Balincourt in his Brooklyn studio; Cynthia Rowley chats with artist Delia Brown over drinks at the Soho House; Kara Walker prepares for her big show at the Whitney; and Terry Richardson remembers sharing a tiny East Village with his late father and fellow photographer Bob Richardson. CITY's 50th issue is also jam-packed with the hottest fall fashion, a look at the 'Happy Mealing' of 7th Avenue by GQ Style Guy Glenn O'Brien, and a photo portfolio of the 'unsung heroes' of the New York fashion industry.
