GET A LEG UP ON HOLIDAY SHOPPING

With Black Friday just a couple days away, we thought we'd check in on what some of our favorite denim brands have in store this holiday season. Fresh off the opening of a Las Vegas outpost at the Forum Shops at Caesars, Miss Sixty/Energie's new Manhattan flagship was unveiled Tuesday at 901 Broadway (at 20th Street). The 7,000-square-foot space boasts the Italian label's full winter collections, a sexy, edgy mix of denim and accessories. This week also marks the debut of a limited-edition line of jeans ($650) from Jean Shop. Made from a special Japanese black selvidge, there are only 33 pairs available, each signed, signed, dated, and serial numbered. They're available at Fred Segal in Los Angeles, Lileo in Toronto, and Jean Shop in New York.

GOING TO THE MOVIES? HEAD TO THE LIBRARY FIRST

Once you've had your fill of turkey, football, and shopping this weekend, it's time for another great Thanksgiving tradition: going to the movies. This year, mixed in among the usual holiday fare and Oscar bait are a bounty of films that are adaptations of highly acclaimed and often very serious literature. In the new issue of CITY magazine, on newsstands now, we head to the library and then the cineplex to preview some of the season's top adaptations, including critical darling No Country for Old Men (photo of Javier Bardem above, showtimes), box office champ Beowulf (showtimes), and Oprah's pick, Love in the Time of Cholera (showtimes), all in theaters now. Don't forget Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (trailer), opening next week, and coming in December, early Oscar favorite Atonement (trailer) and The Kite Runner (trailer).

CITY's first ever Arts & Entertainment issue also heads to Broadway, where we profile Young Frankenstein's Sutton Foster, who's getting raves for her portrayal of Inga, Dr. Frankeinstein's yodeling, voluptuous lab assistant. CITY also enlisted the cast of the Roundabout Theatre Company's touring production of the classic jury room drama 12 Angry Men to star in one of our most dramatic fashion shoots ever. As if that's not enough, we chat up design guru Sir Terence Conran and taste CITY chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten's take on a traditional Thanksgiving feast.
