WEST-SIDE STYLE
Models are ready to walk the runways in Southern California March 7–13 for Los Angeles Fashion Week. If you’re in LaLa Land, CITY Fashion Director Julie Ragolia suggests a few don’t-miss events:
Erin Fetherston’s Opening Party
"Erin is kicking off L.A. Fashion Week with what is sure to be a celeb-fest. Kirsten Dunst and Zooey Deschanel star in a short film to debut Fetherston’s latest collection."
Friday, March 7, Villa, 8623 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood, www.erinfetherston.com
A+D Museum’s Inaugural International Design Awards
"Definitely do not miss anything that goes on at the A+D Museum. Granted, I’m a bit biased, as I curated an exhibition there a couple of months back, but it is one of the highlight institutions of L.A.’s art scene nonetheless. This exhibition celebrates emerging and established talent in all categories of design." Saturday, March 8, 5900 Wilshire Blvd., www.idesignawards.com
Inside the Designer’s Studio
"Isabel and Ruben Toledo will be speaking with Otis College of Art and Design’s Rosemary Brantley. This is design and fashion at its apex.” Tuesday, March 11, Pacific Design Center, 8687 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood
Which fashion shows should be on your radar? Julie recommends: Kelly Nishimoto, Orthodox Clothing, Kevan Hall, DDC LAB, and Jared Gold… if you can get in. For more information, go to www.fashionweekla.com

THE TIME IS NAU
Over on the East Coast, get a fashion fix this weekend when Nau hosts a New York warehouse sale in anticipation of its 2009 store opening. Expect 40 to 75 percent off for the label’s outdoor and urban lifestyle products. As part of the company’s Partners for Change program, 5 percent of every purchase will go to Kiva, the world’s premiere microfinance organization, where you can donate as little as $25 to an entrepreneur in the developing world. Check out the sale at Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry St., on Thursday, March 6, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, March 7, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, March 8, noon to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, March 9, noon to 6 p.m. |

CITY’S FIERCE PROJECT RUNWAY DOPPELGANGER
It’s the moment fashion fans have been waiting for all season: the Project Runway finale airs tonight at 10 p.m. on Bravo, and Posh, Nina, Michael, and Heidi are sure to have a few choice things to say about the finalists’ Bryant Park collections. Here at CITY headquarters we’re all a bit obsessed, and while some of us are pulling for Jillian and some of us still can’t believe Chris lost out to Rami last week (despite that human hair), we’re actually all secretly rooting for Christian. Why? Because people on the street keep asking CITY designer Alexander Wolf, who shares a striking resemblance to the fierce Runway favorite (although our guy’s actually taller!), if he won. We think it’s time for Alexander to start reaping some of the benefits of a Christian victory. |
